The world is filled with people that are trying to become entrepreneurs. Everyone thinks that they have what it takes to become one.  When you really get down to it, I don’t think that this is the case.  In many circumstances, the people that think they want to become an entrepreneur do not even know what it is to be one.  They could actually better talk about what it is to be a medical doctor, or what it takes to become a professional football player, than they could describe what it means to be an entrepreneur.

If this is in any way describes you or your thoughts, then you have some stuff to learn.  Frankly, with a lack of this education, you have no shot.  How can you become a great entrepreneur if you don’t even know what an entrepreneur is? 

If you aspire to become an entrepreneur, you must know and understand the position that you are signing up for. You must have a clear vision of what an entrepreneur is.  You must know what it takes to become a great entrepreneur. You must also know the skills that you will need to work on to improve your entrepreneur ability.

Here is a great quote that can put you on the right track to seeing if you have what it takes to become an effective entrepreneur:

“You will need to be creative rather than passive, capable of self-initiated action, rather that dependent; you will need to know how to learn rather than expect to be taught; you will need to be enterprising in your outlook and not think or act like an ‘employee’ or ‘client’”

You see, entrepreneurs see things differently than others.  They have a totally different mindset. The entrepreneurial mind thrives in environments of uncertainty and the employee mind wants security.  The entrepreneurial mind thrives in diversity of culture, and the employee doesn’t like to try new things. The entrepreneurial mind thrives in opportunities that the employee often doesn’t see.

 If you want to become an entrepreneur, you have to ask yourself, do I have what it takes? Do I need to be spoon-fed every step of the way? If the answer to the latter question is yes, then entrepreneurship may be the wrong place for you.
